DC Microgrid PV system with Battery Energy System
 
Energy management and control of a PV array and a battery-based DC Microgrid are presented in this work. The design and operation of PV and battery DC-DC converters are discussed in detail. Radiation input to the solar array is an actual variation that was measured on a normal sunny day. The battery is the main component responsible for keeping the DC bus voltage at a constant value by charging or discharging while serving the dynamic load. There are standard built-in models for solar PV and battery in MATLAB, the software that is used for the microgrid simulation. It is observable that the microgrid energy management and control work as expected.
